Englishman just landed in Munich

Hi, I've just landed in Munich (well, Gauting), and will be working here for at least 2 years. I don't speak much German yet, but am learning.

I had a regular wargaming and RPG group back in Warwick, England, which i'm missing (here: http://www.wellesbournewargames.esmartdesign.com/ if anyone's interested!), so i wondered if there's anyone out there who plays (either RPG or tabletop wargames) in English?

I have kids, so regular saturdays may be difficult, but evenings once a week should be ok.

Oh, and i have no preference what games are played (well, i do, but i doubt i can be fussy!)

In what kind of wargames are you? We have a quite solid Warhammer 40k - group here. Mainly we are gaming on the second saturday every month, but perhaps some during-the-week game could be scheduled as well.

Hi there Dan, welcome to Munich. As far as I know some people in this forum use to play Tides of Iron. At the boardgame/tabletop (http://www.doder.org/forumdisplay.php?f=10) meeting Nirraven mentioned we usually play scifi/fantasy strategy games not historical wargames. But if you are interested in board games maybe we can try out ASL, Hof Gap, East & West or other stuff there eventually. Some people offered GURPS WW sessions in the past at the RPG Meeting so check it out.

Do you want to find people to play pen-and-paper roleplaying games with? On the Rollenspieltreffen we already had a English-speaking Session several months ago. I think it would be possible to organize one again. Just tell us which Setting/System you'd prefer.

Concerning wargames, there is a place similar to what doder.org is for roleplaying games, i.e. a shop-independent local forum: www.figurenschieber.de
There you can find people playing (AFAIK) Warmachine/Hordes, Confrontation, FoW, LotHS, LotOW, WHF, WH40k, Alkemy, BFG, Full Thrust, WAB, Great War, Rezolution, not to mention all those beauties people are hiding at home without playing it (yet) like DBA, Wargods of Aegyptus, Infinity, Rules of Engagement, Crusader, Blitzkrieg Commander, Black Powder Battles, ... :cool:
